About us

Our ethos is centered on education built around the individual’s needs.

Community-Ed CIC is a social enterprise based in Great Yarmouth that uses food education, therapeutic art and design, and information technology to support vulnerable young people, families, and the wider community. As a growing provision, we are constantly adding to our educational offer. If you cannot see an area of interest, speak to a member of our team to help build an individual package to suit your needs.

Community-Ed has built up a positive reputation with Norfolk and Suffolk County Council Virtual Schools and local SEND provisions to re-engage young people into education through out-of-the-box creative learning. This allows young people to build confidence and self-esteem to move on to positive progression routes in their future.

Meet the Team

Andrew McGovern

Andrew McGovern

Co-founding Director & Operations Director

Having spent 25 years in adult services within the public and private sector, Andrew retrained as a chef and established his own catering business.

Qualified to a Level 3 Professional Cookery Standard, focusing on classic cookery, Andrew developed a passion for all things street food and has been an influencer and leader on the street food scene for the past ten years.

Four years ago, Andrew was asked by the headteacher of a local SEND school to assist he in improving the lunchtime meal provision. While at the school, Andrew established a regular 5-week rolling menu with a focus on current school food standards.

Andrew included the students in planning menus and making healthy choices. He then started to incorporate the students in the food preparation and cooking. While doing this, he realised the potential in a project to help those in the final stages of their schooling.

Andrew and our other co-founding director, Sally, combined their knowledge, skills, and expertise to found Community-Ed. Both directors are passionate about supporting the local community and providing a sustainable, non-for-profit, community enterprise – working with the community, for the community.
